Getting to The Village
Montreal’s Gay Village is just east of downtown Montreal and right next to Le Quartier des Spectacles ( Montreal’s Entertainment district). Montreal’s gay village is officially marked as Le Village on official city maps of Montreal.
You’ll also find afterhours clubs and many lounges in the Village. Other festivals that are also held in the Village include Fierté Montréal (Pride Montreal) and The Black & Blue Festival. A more extravagant establishment is Complexe Sky which has three separate storeys consisting of a bar, a hip-hop club and a dance club, along with an indoor pool and spa.

Shopping in The Village
Montreal’s Gay Village offers an assortment of stores and services that are targeted towards the gay and lesbian community. Mtl en Arts is proud to call itself the biggest open-air art gallery in the eastern half of the country.
There is also a large section of the Village that runs between Sherbrooke Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard on Amherst Street. This event takes advantage of the fact that there are no cars on this stretch of Saint-Catherine Street. Other popular spots to eat include the Vietnamese pub Le Red Tiger, the classic Thai restaurant Pamika and the Hawaiian-style Kamé Snack Bar.
Of note is Atateken Street which has a number of antique and other decorative shops.
So it’s no wonder why it is a destination of choice for many gay travelers. Divers/Cité is a weeklong arts and music festival that’s been taking place each year in the Village since 1993. You’ll find specialty boutiques and fashion, restaurants, discotheques, cafés, major hotels and cozy bed-and-breakfasts. Bustling Sainte-Catherine Street running east to west acts as the gaybourhood’s main drag, stacked with fine eateries, eye-popping boutiques, and a multitude of B&B options housed in uniquely Montréalaise architecture.
For those with a sweet tooth there’s the quaint Sachère Desserts bakery.
The Village has good shopping options as well. But the fun runs 24/7, making Le Village one of Montréal’s most vibrant, open, and inclusive quarters both day and night.

Over the years, Montreal’s openness and its accepting climate has made the Village a great tourist attraction.During the hot summer months, the party never stops in The Village, with one event after another. Saint-Catherine Street also has a lot of spots to explore, particularly during the summer when different exhibitions take to the street.
