Here are seven LGBTQ+ friendly bars and restaurants in metro Phoenix, inside and outside of the Melrose neighborhood.

Nearly 5% of Arizona’s adult population identified as LGBTQ+ in 2019, the latest data available from Gallup, and that number is likely to increase—according to a different Gallup poll, the percentage of adults who self-identify as LGBTQ+ in 2025 rose to 9.3%, over double what it was when Gallup first measured it in 2012.

The LGBTQ-owned restaurant regularly hosts drag shows and has been involved in sponsoring Pride events. Their menu offers up items like chia pudding, cauliflower tacos, and a blackseed burger. You’re not obligated to use them but we appreciate it if you do. Throughout the gay-friendly hotel, you’ll find works by more than 25 local artists, and one of the exterior walls lights up at night with video-projected images, bringing color to both the hotel and its downtown location.

Be prepared to see all manner of wildlife, from roadrunners and coyotes to desert reptiles and dreaded scorpions. But if you insist, the city’s luxury resorts offer a great escape if you prefer poolside relaxation. Taking place in March, the Rainbows Festival is Phoenix Pride’s little sister. Both in terms of its infamous desert climate and because it has become the hottest place to be for those in the know.

Located in the town of Gilbert, just outside Phoenix, this quirky activity has attracted international attention and is one of the top ten things to do in Phoenix.

Take a day trip to hike along the rim, join a guided tour, or simply bask in the awe-inspiring views.
