It’s made me think of the categories in gay slang/subcultures, which draw on body shape/type, and link them with the names of animals. Platforms like Grindr and Scruff have popularized various terms, including ‘otter’. This role gives a different picture of gay manliness questions usual ideas, and values being different in how people show themselves and their place in the bigger LGBTQ+ area.

A “twink” is a term used to describe a young and attractive gay man.

Contrary to more modern versions of the mermen scantily clad, legendary mermen often appeared in full dress attire playing the violin in rivers and waterfalls or materializing as an animal, especially as a river horse. Collage lets me bring elements together that ‘shouldn’t’ coexist. It typically refers to someone who is slim, with little to no body hair, and often has a youthful appearance.

• For instance, someone might say, “He’s such a cute twink, all the guys are into him.”
• In a conversation about dating preferences, a person might say, “I’m more into twinks than older guys.”
• A gay man might refer to himself as a twink and say, “I embrace my twink identity, it’s part of who I am.”

A “daddy” is a term used to describe an older gay man who is typically more dominant and takes on a nurturing and protective role in relationships. It's a big part of his life in the gay tribes, about finding where he fits and his own story.
